Why it is called a ledger

An accountant's ledger records each transaction once, with a date and a reference, so anyone can trace a figure back to where it came from. We apply the same idea to facts. Every claim on this site has a source, a date we last checked it, and a stamp showing how much weight it carries. If a fact changes, the entry changes and so does its date. The domain name fits the habit: this site is kept the way a careful bookkeeper keeps the books.

What the stamps mean

StampMeaning
CheckedConfirmed by BK8.io's legal text or rules, or by two independent sources.
One source / Operator figureStated by one source only, or an estimate the operator gives about itself. We say whose figure it is.
ConflictBK8.io's own pages disagree. We show both versions and explain which we rely on.

Our sources, in order of weight

  1. Regulator records, such as the Anjouan licence validation page we walk through in the BK8.io licence check.
  2. BK8.io's legal footer, terms and FAQ, which are the rules the operator would point to in a dispute.
  3. Official announcements from teams, federations and BK8 itself, read in full rather than as summaries.
  4. Independent reporting by established sports and business publications.
  5. BK8.io's marketing copy, which we use for descriptions but not for facts it cannot back up elsewhere.

We do not use forum posts, unnamed insiders or reviews we cannot trace. We do not invent figures. If BK8.io has not published a number, such as a bonus's wagering requirement, we say it is not published rather than guess.

Who writes it

Pages are written and checked by the BK8.io Ledger editorial desk. Every page carries the date it was last checked, and news reports carry their publication date. We read each source ourselves before a fact goes in, and a second check runs over each page before it is published to catch broken sources, missing dates and claims without a reference.

Our relationship with BK8.io

This site writes about one platform only, and the buttons marked with an 18+ note open bk8.io. Those links are marked as sponsored in the page code. Being focused on BK8.io does not change how we report it. When BK8.io's marketing copy says something its own rules contradict, we print the contradiction. When a sponsorship has ended, our sponsorship register lists it as ended even if the badge is still on bk8.io.

Corrections

If you find a fact here that is wrong or out of date, email the desk at editor@masons-accountants.com with what it is and where the better source is. We check the source, correct the entry, change its date and note the correction on the page. We will not remove an accurate entry because it is unflattering to anyone.
